five-stars

“When she fought, she was the blade. When she loved, she was the kiss.”

What can I say about Shadow of Self by Brandon Sanderson?
How about . . .
Oh Brandon Sanderson you’re plot twist and creative journey through this adult epic fantasy really turns me on.
Wow. This fifth installment of the Mistborn series is full of hectic mind blowing action, plot twist, and of course just great fantasy. Brandon Sanderson is a great master of fantasy story telling in my eyes.
If your not sure if you should read the Mistborn series you’re thinking to hard. It’s Brandon Sanderson, there is no thinking just buy the novels. Read them. Love them always and forever.

In this novel the future of the city of Elendel is a great balancing act of good and evil on the tip of a sharp knife’s edge. There is a force pushing Elendel towards a doomsday revolution it’s up to Waxillium, trading Wayne and of course Marassi to save Elendel from disaster. Despite their efforts this revolution might be out of their grip when it comes to their attempts to stop it. Will they have the strength let alone the knowledge to stop whats about to happen?
I have to say this story was hilarious yet heartbreaking. Brandon Sanderson has a great way of creating a flowing banter between characters that makes it feel more like a hilarious commentary verses a dialogue of exchanging information. Marsai is a hilariously witted but my favorite is Wayne because he has such a great affection towards his hats as well as trading. Everything’s fare trade when Wayne needs to trade.
“I need you to stay behind as we go into those slums,” Wayne said, determined to impress solemnity into his voice. “It’s not that I don’t want your help. I do. It’s just going to be too dangerous for you. You need to stay where I know you’re safe. No arguments. I’m sorry.” “Wayne,” Wax said, walking past. “Stop talking to your hat and get over here.”

I just love how Brandon Sanderson takes us for an epic journey just to shock us into a position of  awe before we realize what’s happening. I love his novels so much but I truly love the epilogue.
Ohhhhh this epilogue was really heartbreaking.
Oh poor Wax

I hope you enjoy this novel as much as I did
My heart breaks so much for Wax and I honestly hope all ends well for his heart.
Happy Reading Everyone

About Brandon Sanderson

Brandon Sanderson was born in 1975 in Lincoln, Nebraska. As a child Brandon enjoyed reading, but he lost interest in the types of titles often suggested to him, and by junior high he never cracked a book if he could help it. This changed when an eighth grade teacher gave him Dragonsbane by Barbara Hambly.
