I would like to thank the publisher of St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read this book before it’s publication date in exchange for an honest review.
I give this book 4.5 stars!
This is my first time reading any of Valerie Bowman’s work and I’ very excited to have this read this particular book, since I am obsessed with all things pirates. How could I not be obsessed with pirates I’m from the Bahamas, my childhood history lessons were about the literal pirates of the Caribbean. The idea of having St. Martin Press ask me to read Valerie Bowman’s newest book installment in her Playful Brides series was more than exciting it was thrilling. This book stole my heart in the best way possible. Never Trust a Pirate is only 288 pages but it’s the best 288 pages you will read when it comes to a light romance reading.
I fell in love with Bowman when she began her novel with a dedication to her sister by using a Virginia Woolf. Even with the Virginia Woolf dedication to her family I did find it rather hard to get in to the groove of the novel. I found in the first few pages of Never Trust a Pirate captivating, humorous and completely entertaining. If you’re a person that loves romance novels with a twisting plot involving sexy yet dangerous pirates, intriguing murder plots and of course romance this is the book for us! There is never a dull moment when Valerie Bowman is writing the characters. The characters that she created are both compelling, witty, and filled the brim with dangerous pirating secrets!
I love this book, and I am truly grateful that publication and the marketing team allowed me the chance to not only read this book as an ARC but also to be apart of Bowman’s blog tour of this book.
What you should know when you read this book, is from the very first page you are put on the edge of adventure, mystery and of course…. the casual gun pointed at the back of your skull as you attempt to steal a map. Good thing we are only reading the book and not truly living out every single moment of the book, or at least not the dangerous parts! When reading this book expect to have spies bombard you, destiny test, you and the wings of romance swing you away!
