Black Widow A Jack Parlabane Thriller by Christopher Brookmyre Arc Review

Saturday, May 28th 2016

This is my first experiences with the Jack Parlabane series let alone my first time reading anything by Christopher Brookmyre. I’m really thankful that Netgallery and Grove Atlantic Atlantic Monthly Press for allowing me the opportunity to experience a new author in my readiness career. It’s always tricky to jump into an on going series however this novel can be read as a stand alone even though there will be moments where you won’t know exactly what is being referred since the references past events. I assure you after reading Black Widow you’ll want to read the rest of the  Jack Parlabane Thriller the same way I am. This particular Jack Parlabane story is definitely a novel that will push you nose first in the other books of the series without hesitation.
A lot of the story is told from the perspective of Diana which I very much enjoyed her dialogue. I love Diana. She’s a character all by herself but I very much enjoyed the chance we were given to understand her better as a person. The longer we spent reading the Black Widow my own personal perspective of Diana constantly changed as we were given more information about her. The relationship with Peter, her history, even her personality was a joy to read.

Setting aside Diana’s & Jack points of view I also found some characters to be a little winded by I believe that is because I don’t know the nature of all the character connection since at this very time of this review to be written I have not read all of the Jack Parlabane series. I feel that when I read all 6 of the books I will be given a better point of view of the entire cast of the books instead of just jumping into this seventh book without getting to know more. Even as a Series Jumper I have to say this is an amazing author. I’m rather disappointed in myself for not know about him earlier, but it’s never to late to change my wicked ways and being reading more of Christopher Brookmyre amazing writings. He constantly puts twist and turns within he plot to have you guessing although an advent reader might be able to guess a fair amount of the plot reveal but only Christoper Brookmyre has the entire map of the plot itself.
I’m giving this book 3 stars but I’m sure after reading the rest of the series my rating will definitely go higher. This isn’t normally the type of book that I would read because I am such a cowardly lion, however I will recommeded this novel to all this who are just dying to have a good adult criminal mystery on their foot! I really hope you join me in reading all that Brookmyre has to offer in the Jack Parlabane series! The seventh book of the Jack Parlabane series: Black Widow is not available until November 1st 2016, which means you have more time to get to know all the characters that Christopher Brookmyre has to offer without hesitation! What are you waiting for join the adventure, the mystery and the suspense now!
Happy Reading!
